Rhode Island's Full-Service Plumbing Contractor — Since 1889

A dripping faucet and a failed sewer main are both calls we've taken for over 130 years. Whatever the job, F.G. Lees & Son has the crew, the equipment, and the experience to handle it right the first time.

Licensed, Insured, and Built for the Full Range of Plumbing Work

F.G. Lees & Son is a fifth-generation family business and the oldest plumbing company in Rhode Island. We are fully licensed and insured, and we carry our own excavation equipment — backhoes and trenching machinery operated by our own crew — so sewer and water line jobs never get handed off to a subcontractor. From a single-family home in North Providence to a commercial high-rise in downtown Providence, the full range of plumbing work is normal operation for us, not an exception.

If your home was built before 1950, you likely have cast iron, galvanized, or clay pipe inside your walls and under your yard. We've worked on Providence's housing stock since the 1880s. Those systems aren't edge cases for our crew — they're standard work.

Plumbing Services for Homeowners and Commercial Properties Across Rhode Island

Drain Cleaning

Slow drains and recurring clogs are symptoms, not the problem. We identify what's actually causing the blockage before recommending a fix — and we clear it properly.

Sewer Line Repair and Replacement

When a sewer line fails, the repair needs to be right — not just fast. F.G. Lees handles sewer line repair and full replacement with our own excavation crew and equipment. No subcontractors. No handoffs.

Water Line Repair and Replacement

Water line work requires the same excavation capability as sewer — and the same in-house approach. Our crew handles the full job from diagnosis through backfill, with our own equipment on site.

Water Heater Services

We service, repair, and replace water heaters across all fuel types — gas, oil, electric, and high-efficiency. If your unit is failing or you're ready to upgrade, we'll tell you what makes sense for your home.

Fixture installation, remodel plumbing, supply and drain work — we handle the plumbing side of kitchen and bath projects from rough-in through finish.

Water Filtration

If your water quality isn't where it should be, we assess what's in it and install filtration systems sized for your home or building.

Water Treatment

Beyond filtration, some properties need targeted treatment for hardness, acidity, or contamination. We evaluate your water and recommend the right system.

Excavation Services

We own our excavation equipment and keep all underground work in-house. When your sewer or water line needs to come out of the ground, one crew handles it start to finish.

What Rhode Island Homeowners and Property Managers Ask Before Calling

  • Do you handle both residential and commercial plumbing?

Yes. We serve single-family homeowners, multi-unit residential buildings, commercial property managers, condominium associations, hospitals, hotels, and high-rise facilities across Rhode Island. The scale of the job changes — our approach to doing it right does not.

  • Do you perform in-house excavation, or do you subcontract that work?

We own our excavation equipment and perform all sewer line and water line excavation with our own crew. We do not subcontract this work. That means one point of contact, one accountable team, and no coordination delays between a plumber and a separate excavation contractor.

  • Can you work on an older home with cast iron or galvanized pipes?

Yes — and we do it regularly. Providence and surrounding Rhode Island communities have a high concentration of pre-war housing with cast iron, galvanized, and clay pipe systems. We've been working on this housing stock since 1889. These systems are familiar territory for our crew.

  • Are you available for plumbing emergencies?

Our phone line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During business hours, you'll reach our staff directly. After hours, calls forward to our on-call team. We also offer dedicated emergency plumbing services for situations that can't wait.

  • How do I know you'll fix the actual problem and not just patch it?

We use camera inspection and proper diagnosis before recommending any repair. That process identifies the cause of the problem — not just the visible symptom — so the repair we make is the right one, not a temporary measure.
